The Boise Parks and Recreation Department Greenbelt Committee Oral Histories is a collection of recorded interviews with the pioneers of the Boise River Greenbelt. Conducted in 1998 by Troy Reeves for the Parks and Recreation Department, the interviews explore the personal experience of the individuals that participated in the creation and development of the Greenbelt. Many of the individuals interviewed served as members of the Greenbelt Committee—later Greenbelt and Pathways Committee—which operated as an advisory body from 1971-1997.
Boise Parks and Recreation maintains more than 90 developed parks across the city, approximately 210 miles of Ridge to Rivers trails in the Boise Foothills, 25 miles of the Boise River Greenbelt pathway and thousands of acres of open space. The department's recreational facilities include Zoo Boise, two municipal golf courses, pools, Idaho IceWorld and more.
