Foothills Levy Oral Histories
The idea of conserving the Boise Foothills dates back to the 1950s. However, the backdrop to the city of Boise as we know it today is a result of a series of levies that fund property purchases in the foothills, support clean air and water, and preserve park property. On May 22, 2001, the citizens of Boise passed what would be the first of three levies, a $10,000,000 two-year serial levy to conserve valuable land in the foothills. The stories found in the Foothills Levy oral history collection reflect on those efforts to conserve land for future generations to enjoy.
